Vietnam expands free health checks and electronic records under new health reform

The Vietnamese Politburo’s Resolution No. 72‑NQ/TW calls for strengthening grassroots healthcare, preventive services and digital transformation. 2026‑2030 plans include free annual health examinations for all residents, with priority given to the elderly, people with disabilities, low‑income households and chronic patients. In Hue, a periodic screening programme aims to ensure 100 % coverage, while Ho Chi Minh City has updated electronic health records for more than 2.3 million people, creating a foundation for early disease detection and data‑driven governance. Provincial initiatives across Phú Thọ, Lai Châu, Thanh Hóa and Gia Lai focus on patient satisfaction, free screenings for disadvantaged children, disease surveillance and cooperation with epidemiology institutes to boost early detection of infectious and non‑communicable diseases.
