Vietnam expands manufacturing role and targets global halal market

Vietnam is strengthening its position in the global economy through manufacturing diversification and potential expansion into the halal market. As an attractive hub for international brands in sectors such as textiles, electronics, and automotive components, the country is increasingly integrated into regional supply chains. However, the shift toward diversified production networks necessitates rigorous independent quality control to ensure consistency in materials and workmanship for overseas buyers.

Simultaneously, Vietnam is looking to tap into the global halal market, which is estimated to be worth between $2.5 trillion and $3 trillion annually and could reach $10 trillion by 2028. While Vietnamese halal exports currently stand at approximately $900 million per year—primarily in raw agricultural and seafood products—there is significant growth potential in processed goods like dairy, snacks, and frozen aquatic products. To capture this market, particularly in nations like Indonesia and Malaysia, Vietnamese businesses must meet specific certification, supply chain, and processing standards.
