Vietnam expands pickleball scene with school tournament in Da Nang and city event in Ho Chi Minh City
The Da Nang Pickleball Federation launched the city’s first school‑university pickleball competition on 14 June 2026, attracting 65 schools and 331 athletes aged from junior high to university. The event, co‑organized with local education and youth authorities, featured singles and doubles matches for boys, girls and mixed pairs, with the group stage and quarter‑finals held at the Tuyên Sơn courts and the finals at the Kimi Sport complex in FPT City.
A week later, on 13 June 2026, Ho Chi Minh City hosted the Pickleball Báo Người Lao Động tournament at the Banger courts. The competition featured eight categories, including age‑based and celebrity pairings, and offered a total prize pool of nearly 200 million VND. Winners in each category received electric VinFast motorcycles. Notable champions included the veteran duo Nguyễn Thị Lan Châu & Đặng Như Quỳnh in the women’s over‑45 event and the mixed celebrity pair Rin At & Phúc Huynh.
Both tournaments highlight the rapid growth of pickleball in Vietnam, drawing substantial participation, media attention and corporate sponsorship.
