Vietnam expands primary health care and digital records to improve service quality

Vietnam's Political Bureau has issued Resolution 72‑NQ/TW to strengthen primary health care, center services on patients and accelerate digital transformation. Localities are rolling out concrete measures: in Hue a free annual health‑check program for 2026‑2030 aims to give every resident at least one exam per year, with results stored in electronic health records. Ho Chi Minh City’s Community Health platform has already digitised data for over 2.3 million people, facilitating early disease detection and preventive medicine. Hospitals such as the Vinh Phuc Maternal‑Infant Hospital report patient‑satisfaction rates above 98 %, while electronic medical records, digital ID and cash‑less payments reduce wait times. In Lai Châu, the “Seeds of Hope” initiative provides free screening and surgery for disabled children from low‑income families. Provinces including Phú Thọ, Gia Lai, Thanh Hòa and others are enhancing epidemiological surveillance and preparing supplies to combat seasonal outbreaks of dengue, measles, hand‑foot‑mouth disease and pertussis.
