Vietnam launches VNeID fee waivers and August 20 deadline for account verification

From 15 August 2026 to 28 February 2027, Vietnam will waive or reduce fees for a range of administrative services for citizens who hold a Level‑2 VNeID account and provide five required documents. Exemptions cover vehicle‑registration changes, temporary plates, civil‑registry copies (birth, marriage, etc.), land‑title adjustments, and the public digital‑signature service. The decree also cuts the fire‑safety design approval fee and the guarantee‑transaction registration fee by 50 %. Benefits are shown directly on the VNeID app.

The government also set a verification deadline: after 20 August 2026, mobile subscribers who have not confirmed their VNeID information will have their services revoked. From 15 August a one‑way suspension applies, escalating to full revocation on 20 August. More than 114 million subscribers have been cross‑checked against the national population database; most match, but a significant number remain unverified. The Ministry of Science and Technology has instructed telecom operators to station staff at local service points and deploy mobile teams to assist elderly and non‑smartphone users in completing the verification.
