Vietnam expands VNeID to allow criminal record checks and health app login
From 1 July 2026 Vietnam’s national electronic identification system VNeID will display users’ criminal‑record information and enable fully online applications for electronic criminal‑record certificates. The new decree lets citizens aged 16 and above view the status of their records, including convictions, directly in the app, and receive the certificates digitally or by mail within eight working hours of submission.
At the same time, the digital health platform IVIE‑Bác sĩ ơi signed an agreement to integrate VNeID’s electronic authentication. Users will be able to log in to the health app with a single VNeID account, improving security, reducing fraudulent accounts, and streamlining access to online medical services such as appointment booking, remote consultations, and personal health‑record management.
