Vietnam extends free registration for .vn national domains
Vietnam is extending its program to popularize the national “.vn” domain to support the country's digital economy. Under Circular No. 64/2025/TT-BTC, the policy providing free registration for “id.vn” and “biz.vn” domains has been extended through the end of 2026.
The Vietnam Internet Center, under the Ministry of Science and Technology, is coordinating with local authorities to implement the initiative. The “id.vn” domain is intended to help students and young professionals build professional online identities, such as digital CVs and personal portfolios. Meanwhile, the “biz.vn” domain is designed to help new businesses and household businesses establish websites, promote products, and build brand trust.
Currently, there are over 680,000 active “.vn” domains. Nineteen provinces and cities have issued plans to implement the program locally, with ten provinces maintaining more than 10,000 active national domains each.
