Vietnam extends free .vn domain registration for id.vn and biz.vn

Vietnam has updated its policies regarding national domain names under the “.vn” extension. According to Circular No. 149/2026/TT-BTC issued by the Ministry of Finance, the period for exemption from registration and maintenance fees for the “id.vn” and “biz.vn” domains has been extended from two years to three years.

The new regulations also introduce specific fee structures for new domain extensions, including “ad.vn”, “on.vn”, and “ap.vn”. The Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC), under the Ministry of Science and Technology, stated that these changes aim to complete the management of Internet resources and expand the national domain space to meet the diverse online presence needs of organizations, businesses, and citizens.

The circular is set to take effect on November 23, 2026.
