Vietnam: Family health struggles and missing child recovery
In Quảng Trị province, a multi-generational household is facing severe hardship due to widespread illness. Nguyễn Thị Minh Phượng, who is battling thyroid cancer, is the primary caregiver for her elderly mother, her husband Phạm Lệ—who suffers from spinal issues, cirrhosis, and eye disease—and three young children. The children also face health challenges, including a daughter with congenital heart disease and a nephew with asthma.
Separately, in An Giang province, an 11-month-old girl named Nguyễn Thị Minh Thư has been safely reunited with her family after being reported missing. The child had been left briefly unattended at a clothing stall while her mother was shopping. A couple subsequently took the infant with the intention of adopting her. Local authorities in Vĩnh Xương commune coordinated with police in Châu Đốc to locate the child and return her to her mother.
