Vietnam: Father refuses to shield son who escaped A2 Prison

Vo Hoang Duy, a prisoner serving a 20-year sentence, has escaped from the A2 Prison in Khanh Hoa province. Duy, born in 1999, had been serving his sentence for approximately two years.

His father, Vo Van Vi, expressed deep sorrow regarding his son's legal troubles and the impact on Duy's two young children. However, Mr. Vi stated that he will not cover up the crime, asserting that since his son violated the law, he must face legal punishment. Mr. Vi noted that despite previous advice to live honestly, Duy chose a different path and must now face the consequences of his actions.

Local authorities in Binh Hiep commune, Gia Lai province, have issued public warnings to increase vigilance and requested that citizens report any sightings of the escaped prisoner to the police.
