Vietnam fines pay-TV providers 3.14 billion VND for consumer rights violations

The National Competition Commission, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, has imposed administrative fines totaling 3.14 billion VND on several pay-TV service providers for violating consumer protection regulations.

The penalized companies include FPT Play, TV360, MyTV, HTVC, Onlive TV, and MangoPlus. The violations identified during specialized monitoring include failure to register standard form contracts or general transaction conditions with state management agencies, and including prohibited terms within those contracts.

Additionally, several providers failed to establish methods for consumers to select the scope of information they consent to provide. Other infractions involved inadequate information disclosure during remote transactions and a lack of appropriate procedures to protect vulnerable consumer groups regarding dispute resolution and complaint rights.
