Vintechpharm Director detained in counterfeit supplement ring
Hanoi Police have dismantled a major operation producing counterfeit effervescent vitamin tablets at Vintechpharm Pharmaceutical - Cosmetic Production Co., Ltd. Authorities seized over 1.2 million products during raids on the facility and several pharmacies.
Laboratory testing revealed that the preservative sodium benzoate in the products ranged from 4.18% to 6.78%, exceeding the legal limit of 0.2% by 20 to 33 times. Additionally, advertised ingredients such as Vitamins B1, B3, and B6 were not detected in the samples. The products, which were marketed for detoxification and immune support, were sold through pharmacies and e-commerce platforms like TikTok Shop and Shopee for 45,000 to 60,000 VND per bottle.
Police have initiated criminal proceedings against four defendants for “producing and trading counterfeit food.” Nguyễn Thế Vinh, the Director of Vintechpharm, has been detained for investigation.
