Vietnam football team faces injury concerns ahead of ASEAN Cup third-place match

The Vietnam national football team is facing significant personnel challenges ahead of their FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 third-place match against Malaysia. During training at the Gelora Bung Karno sports complex, several key players, including Đình Bắc, Tài Lộc, Hoàng Hên, and Việt Anh, were required to train separately due to fitness concerns or injuries.

Coach Kim Sang-sik must navigate these absences, particularly the potential loss of attacking depth on the left flank. With stars like Đình Bắc potentially sidelined due to fatigue, the coach is weighing options between Phan Tuấn Tài and Cao Pendant Quang Vinh to bolster the attack. Despite these setbacks, Kim Sang-sik has expressed strong determination, stating that the team will approach the upcoming match against Malaysia with the intensity of a final.
