Vietnam football team heads to Thailand for ASEAN Cup as officials attend national workers' cup final
The Vietnam national football team arrived in Chonburi, Thailand on 20 July after flying from Hanoi via Bangkok. The squad is staying near the sea to rest and adjust to the climate before the opening match of the 2026 ASEAN Cup against Timor‑Leste on 24 July. Training will begin on 21 July under head coach Kim Sang Sik, giving the team three days to prepare.
Deputy Prime Minister Lê Tiến Châu visited Ton Duc Thắng University in Ho Chi Minh City on 19 July, toured the campus and met university leaders. He then attended the national Workers and Civil Servants Football Cup final, a match between the Vietnam Bank Union and Petro Vietnam Union, alongside Labor Federation officials, urging the players and highlighting the event’s importance.
