Vietnam fund management and insurance sectors show strong growth

Vietnam's fund management industry is experiencing significant growth, with total assets under management (AUM) reaching approximately 846 trillion VND by the end of June 2026. This represents a nearly sevenfold increase from the 124 trillion VND recorded at the end of 2015, reflecting an average annual growth rate of over 20%.

Despite this expansion, experts note a substantial gap compared to regional peers. Vietnam's AUM-to-GDP ratio stands at roughly 6%, significantly lower than Thailand (31%), Malaysia (56%), China (57%), and South Korea (84%). This disparity suggests considerable room for market expansion as domestic demand for asset accumulation rises.

In the insurance sector, financial investment activities have become a major profit driver for listed companies. During the first half of 2026, 13 surveyed insurance enterprises reported a total financial profit of 7,930.4 billion VND, a 14.6% increase year-on-year. Bao Viet Group led the sector with 6,196 billion VND in financial profit, supported by an investment portfolio of 297,244.4 billion VND.
