Vietnam gas prices rise sharply in August 2026

Retail LPG prices in Vietnam were raised at the start of August 2026 after a sharp increase in the global contract price. The August contract price was set at $630 per tonne, up $40 from July, prompting distributors to lift prices for household cylinders.

Long Yin Long An Energy JSC announced that 12 kg cylinders would rise by about 35,000 VND, reaching 529,500 VND, while 45 kg cylinders would increase by 131,000 VND to 1,984,500 VND. Similar adjustments were reported by Gas South, which raised 12 kg cylinder prices to 566,340 VND and 45 kg cylinders to 2,124,309 VND. The hikes affect major brands such as City Petro, Vina Pacific Petro, and PetroVietnam, with industrial cylinders also seeing increases of up to 146,000 VND per 50 kg unit.
