Vietnam gift market shifts toward practical items for Women's Day

In celebration of Vietnamese Women's Day on October 20, consumer trends in major cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City show a shift toward practical and personalized gifts over traditional fresh flowers.

While flower markets remain active, many vendors report slower sales for fresh bouquets despite stable or lower prices. In response, the market is seeing a rise in long-lasting alternatives, such as handmade crochet flowers, silk flowers, and soap flowers. High-end floral designs featuring decorative stones, lace, and ribbons are also gaining popularity, with some custom orders reaching prices of 1 to 2 million VND.

Younger consumers are increasingly prioritizing utility and personalization. Emerging trends include gifting fruit baskets, vegetable bouquets, and hobby-specific items like film rolls for photography enthusiasts. These choices reflect a desire for gifts that are meaningful, durable, and tailored to the recipient's specific interests rather than purely decorative items.
