Vietnam gold prices drop amid global market volatility

Gold prices in Vietnam experienced significant downward adjustments on October 20 and 21, 2026. SJC gold bars saw sharp declines, with some brands reporting drops of up to 1.6 million VND per tael, bringing selling prices down to approximately 142 million VND per tael.

Other major domestic brands, including DOJI, PNJ, and Phu Quy, also recorded price reductions for both SJC bars and 9999 gold rings. The volatility in the domestic market mirrors a downward trend in global gold prices, which fell toward the 4,100 USD per ounce mark. This decline is attributed to a strengthening US dollar, rising US Treasury yields, and persistent inflation concerns, which have increased the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets like gold.

In addition to gold, the silver market also faced downward pressure, following global trends. Investors are closely monitoring upcoming US Federal Reserve policy decisions and economic data, including inflation indicators, to gauge future interest rate trajectories.
