Vietnam government identifies mismanagement of thousands of public land and housing assets
The Government Inspectorate of Vietnam has identified significant mismanagement and delays in the arrangement and handling of thousands of public housing and land facilities in Da Nang, Quang Nam, and Quang Ngai provinces.
In Da Nang and Quang Nam, thousands of facilities have incomplete documentation or unidentified asset values. Many properties remain vacant or are being used inefficiently. Specifically, as of July 2025, 1,394 facilities lacked complete public asset management records, and by November 2025, 1,019 facilities had yet to finalize asset value determinations.
In Quang Ngai, inspections revealed issues regarding waste prevention in the management of state-owned assets. Problems include incomplete legal files, failure to update the national public asset database, and long-standing rental arrears. The report also noted delays in implementing approved asset auctions and the slow processing of vacant properties, such as old school buildings and administrative headquarters.
