Vietnam government issues new social assistance regulations
The Vietnamese government has issued Decree 335/2026/NĐ-CP, establishing new regulations and procedures for social assistance policies. Effective from October 5, 2026, the decree sets a new social assistance standard of 540,000 VND per month.
The decree covers several key areas:
Community Care: It outlines benefits for individuals receiving care and nourishment within the community, including monthly social allowances, health insurance cards, educational support, and funeral cost assistance. Households or individuals providing care will also receive monthly financial support.
Emergency Assistance: Provisions are made for urgent aid in various sectors. This includes food support (such as 15 kg of rice per person per month for households facing hunger during Lunar New Year) and essential supplies like tents, water, and food for those displaced by natural disasters, fires, or epidemics. Additionally, the decree specifies financial support for serious injuries requiring medical treatment and funeral costs for those deceased due to force majeure events.
The regulation aims to provide a structured framework for regular social assistance, community-based care, and emergency relief across the country.
