Vietnam Health Alert: Six Early Warning Signs of Kidney Disease

Doctors in Vietnam have highlighted six symptoms that may indicate chronic kidney disease but are often mistaken for normal aging or fatigue. The signs include:

1. Changes in urine such as foaming, nocturnal urination, discoloration or presence of blood, suggesting protein leakage. 2. Swelling around the eyes, ankles or lower legs, and in advanced stages, swelling of hands or face. 3. Persistent fatigue and reduced stamina, linked to lowered erythropoietin production and toxin buildup. 4. Digestive disturbances like loss of appetite, nausea, or a distinctive ammonia‑like breath in severe cases. 5. Skin alterations including dryness, itching, easy bruising or a mottled appearance due to mineral imbalance and anemia. 6. Difficulty controlling high blood pressure, which both damages kidneys and results from impaired kidney function.

People with diabetes, hypertension, obesity, or a family history of kidney disease are at higher risk and should seek regular medical check‑ups to detect these signs early.
