Vietnam Health Experts Debunk Common Weight‑Loss and Breakfast Myths
Health professionals in Vietnam highlighted several widespread misconceptions about weight loss. They explained that skipping breakfast is not an effective slimming strategy and may increase the risk of overweight and metabolic problems. Products labeled “low‑fat” often compensate with higher sugar or calorie content, so relying on such labels does not guarantee weight control. All types of sugar provide the same caloric value, so total sugar intake matters more than the source. Dietary supplements advertised for rapid fat loss generally lack scientific proof and may pose health risks.
A Korean‑trained doctor also warned that four popular breakfast items—fruit smoothies blended with milk, white bread, ready‑to‑eat cereals, and similar processed foods—can cause sharp blood‑sugar spikes when consumed without balancing protein or healthy fats. He advised choosing whole‑grain breads, adding protein‑rich foods such as eggs or tofu, and pairing fruit smoothies with unsweetened yogurt or nuts to slow glucose absorption and avoid rapid hunger cycles.
