Vietnam Health Ministry rolls out chronic disease program and revises health facility network plan

The Ministry of Health and partners, including Servier Vietnam, signed a memorandum to launch a 2026‑2030 program aimed at strengthening awareness, treatment and management of hypertension and diabetes across the country. The initiative targets at least 50 % of patients with each condition to meet treatment goals by 2030 and includes standardised clinical guidelines, training for health‑care staff, community outreach, and the use of digital technologies such as AI and tele‑medicine. Participating organisations span the Vietnamese Cardiology Association, Endocrinology Association, medical universities and major hospitals.

In parallel, the Ministry announced an adjustment to the national health‑facility network plan (2021‑2030, vision to 2050). The revision responds to major demographic shifts, rapid ageing, the rising burden of non‑communicable diseases, post‑COVID health‑security needs, and accelerated digital transformation. It seeks to modernise the system, reduce regional disparities, expand geriatric and long‑term care capacity, and align health services with new governmental directives on decentralisation and administrative reform.
