Vietnam health officials tend to abandoned newborns in Hue and Dong Thap

In Hue, a newborn boy estimated to be about 24 hours old and weighing roughly 3 kg was found on July 30 wrapped in a white cloth and placed in a red basket at the gate of Hương Trà Health Center. Local authorities have taken the infant into care, announced a public search for his parents or relatives, and said the child will remain under the health center’s supervision for up to seven days pending any claim.

In Dong Thap province, a newborn girl of similar weight, still attached to her umbilical cord, was discovered on August 2 by a passer‑by on a road in Lương Hòa Lạc. Police handed the baby to the Tiền Giang Obstetrics Hospital, where she is receiving medical care. The case quickly spread on social media, prompting several local residents to express interest in adopting the child.
