Vietnam hosts forums on public governance and administrative reform
The 2026 Annual International Forum on Public Governance was held at the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics. The forum aims to connect research, policy, and practice while sharing Vietnam’s governance experiences from its 'Doi Moi' reform era with the international community.
During the opening, Associate Professor Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized the need for systemic transformation, innovation, and building government capacity to ensure inclusive and human-centric governance. This comes as Vietnam seeks to become a high-income developed nation by 2045.
In a separate discussion at the 2026 New Economy Forum, experts addressed the gap between policy creation and implementation. While the speed of law-making has increased significantly—with the average time to pass a law dropping to 126 days—representatives from the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) noted that businesses remain concerned about administrative delays at the local level. Experts highlighted that streamlining local procedures is essential to removing bottlenecks and accelerating capital flow into the economy.
