Vietnam hosts UNCITRAL session on investment dispute reform
Vietnam is hosting the 10th interim session of UNCITRAL Working Group III in Ninh Binh province, focusing on the reform of the Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) mechanism. The meeting has brought together approximately 250 delegates, experts, and speakers from more than 60 countries and territories.
Deputy Minister of Justice Dang Hoang Oanh emphasized the significance of Vietnam hosting this session, noting it demonstrates the country's active and responsible participation in UNCITRAL activities. The forum aims to facilitate deep debate on two critical pillars of the ISDS reform process: the establishment of a permanent multilateral mechanism for international investment dispute settlement and issues regarding the calculation of damages and compensation in such disputes.
Vietnam expressed high regard for the role of UNCITRAL and Working Group III in promoting dialogue and strengthening the participation of states and stakeholders to reach a consensus on practical challenges within the current ISDS framework.
