Vietnam sees growth in global university rankings and tourism sectors
Vietnam is seeing significant developments across its higher education and tourism sectors. In academia, eight Vietnamese universities have entered the top 500 in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) across 11 disciplines. Notably, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City ranks in the top 101-150 for Finance.
In the tourism sector, Vietnam is recognized as one of the top 10 emerging large-scale tourism economies by the World Economic Forum (WEF), contributing significantly to global growth. The country has seen improvements in its Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI), particularly in cultural resources. To support this, the government has implemented Resolution 26 to transform tourism into a spearhead economic sector, with the State Bank of Vietnam easing credit restrictions for hospitality and eco-tourism infrastructure to drive high-quality, sustainable growth.
Additionally, emerging trends such as beauty tourism and community-based tourism are gaining traction, with travelers increasingly seeking authentic cultural experiences and wellness-integrated journeys.
