Vietnam identity card renewal requirements for specific age groups
Under the Law on Identity 2023, which has been in effect since July 1, 2024, Vietnamese citizens are required to undergo identity card renewal procedures upon reaching the ages of 14, 25, 40, and 60.
In 2027, individuals born in 2013, 2002, 1987, and 1967 will reach these specific age milestones and may need to renew their cards. However, an exception exists: if a card was issued, exchanged, or reissued within two years prior to reaching the required age, it remains valid until the next scheduled renewal milestone.
Citizens can manage these renewals online via the Public Service Portal or the VNeID application. The digital process allows users to update the app, log in, select administrative procedures, and request a renewal for themselves or others by confirming personal information and selecting a processing location.
