Ho Chi Minh City resident sues business registration office over identity theft

Nguyen Hong Chien, a resident of Ho Chi Minh City, has filed a lawsuit against the Business Registration Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Finance. Chien is seeking the revocation of a business registration certificate for Cuong Anh Machinery Equipment and Spare Parts Co., Ltd., the removal of his name as the fraudulent legal representative, and compensation for damages exceeding 870 million VND.

Chien claims he never participated in the establishment or merger of the company. He discovered the identity theft on February 1, 2025, when he was informed by authorities at Tan Son Nhat International Airport that his exit from the country had been suspended due to tax enforcement measures related to the company. He has previously filed complaints with various provincial authorities in Binh Duong, but the issues remain unresolved.
