Vietnam immigration warns VNeID passport integration does not replace physical documents
The Thanh Hoa Immigration Management Division has issued a warning regarding the use of the VNeID application for international travel. While the VNeID app allows citizens to integrate and manage passport information for administrative convenience and information lookup, the digital version does not replace the physical passport.
According to current regulations, travelers must present a valid physical passport to complete exit and entry procedures at border gates. Relying solely on the integrated information within the VNeID app without the physical document will result in travelers being ineligible for procedures, which may lead to missed flights and disrupted travel plans.
Authorities advise citizens to verify their passport's validity, physical condition, and clarity before departure. Travelers are also encouraged to research the specific entry requirements of their destination countries, as many nations require a passport to be valid for at least six months upon entry.
