Vietnam implements disaster preparedness and infrastructure repairs

In Quang Ninh, the Red Cross is conducting training sessions to build 'Safe Communities' in response to increasing climate change risks such as storms, floods, and landslides. These programs focus on equipping vulnerable groups, including students, the elderly, and people with disabilities, with essential skills like drowning prevention and first aid to minimize loss of life and property.

In Lam Dong, authorities are continuing repair work on the D'Ran Pass along National Highway 20 following a severe landslide that occurred a year ago. The incident previously severed the vital transport link between Da Lat and Phan Rang. While reconstruction efforts, including earthmoving and reinforcement with rock cages, are underway, local residents have expressed concerns regarding the safety of excavation methods used at the base of the mountain.
