Vietnam implements English as a second language initiatives
Vietnam is working toward a national project to establish English as a second language in schools. In Phu Tho province, educational institutions like Hung Vuong Kindergarten are implementing early exposure programs. These initiatives focus on a “learning through play” approach, utilizing songs, stories, and interactive technology to build natural language reception in young children.
Parallel to these classroom efforts, there is ongoing debate regarding university admission policies, specifically the proposal to remove bonus points for foreign language certificates like IELTS. Experts suggest that for the national goal of making English a second language to succeed, educational policies—including general curriculum, assessment, and university admissions—must be synchronized to provide consistent incentives for students to master the language.
