Vietnam implements national health screening program
Vietnam is implementing a national health screening program following Politburo Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW and government directives. While various ministries and local authorities have begun organizing medical examinations, the Prime Minister has noted uneven progress across different regions. Key challenges include inconsistent coordination between periodic check-ups, occupational health exams, and insurance-based services, as well as potential waste due to overlapping funding and data management issues.
To address these gaps, the Prime Minister has directed the Ministry of Health and local leaders to improve data connectivity with the national population database (VNeID) and electronic health records. Authorities are tasked with accurately identifying populations that have not yet been screened and ensuring local budgets are properly allocated to meet targets through 2026.
In Dak Lak province, the program has reached over 2.23 million people, covering approximately 72.2% of its population. The province is utilizing commune health stations, regional medical centers, and mobile teams to provide services. Additionally, Dak Lak has reported that 48.96% of its residents have established electronic health records on the VNeID platform.
