Vietnam implements new contractor assessments and disaster management plans

In Vietnam, new initiatives are addressing industrial capacity and regional disaster resilience. A contractor capacity assessment program scheduled for 2026 aims to create a ranking system for construction firms. This program is intended to help identify genuine capabilities, allowing domestic companies to better compete for large-scale projects and providing a reference for regulators and international partners.

Meanwhile, Thanh Hoa province is developing a disaster prevention and control plan for the 2026-2030 period to combat increasingly extreme weather. Following significant losses from natural disasters between 2017 and 2025, the province is shifting toward proactive risk management. Efforts include upgrading forecasting capabilities, reinforcing infrastructure, and securing critical dyke systems and reservoirs to protect over 426,000 residents living in high-risk areas.
