Dong Nai traffic police launch patrols to reduce highway accidents

The Traffic Police Department (Cục CSGT) is deploying two specialized task forces to collaborate with Dong Nai provincial police to curb rising traffic accidents on National Highway 1A and National Highway 20. Between December 2025 and August 2026, Dong Nai recorded 641 traffic accidents, resulting in 432 deaths and 306 injuries. Specifically, National Highway 1A saw 71 accidents with 53 fatalities, while National Highway 20 recorded 42 accidents with 26 fatalities.

Authorities will utilize both public patrols and undercover operations, leveraging surveillance cameras and technical equipment to target violations involving alcohol, drugs, improper lane usage, and speeding. The focus remains on heavy vehicles, including passenger buses, trucks, and tractor-trailers.

In other safety-related developments, Da Nang police conducted drug testing on 137 employees and drivers from two electric vehicle companies, all of whom tested negative. Additionally, in Hanoi, the Department of Education and Training organized training for teachers and parents on preventing school-based injuries and providing first aid. In Phu Tho, the Deputy Prime Minister has ordered local authorities to ensure safe transportation for students who must travel by boat to reach school.
