Vietnam increases commune-level official allowances to 55%
Under Decree No. 381/2026/NĐ-CP, commune-level officials and civil servants in Vietnam will see their public service allowance increased from 25% to 55% of their current salary. This adjustment applies to personnel working in Party, State, Fatherland Front, and socio-political organizations at the commune, ward, or special district levels.
Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra stated that the 30% increase is a priority policy designed to motivate staff and enhance responsibility within the two-tier local government model. The policy aims to support those directly responsible for implementing tasks and serving the public at the grassroots level.
For officials who already receive additional salary or income increases based on local People's Council resolutions, the allowance remains at 25%. However, if their current additional income is lower than the 55% threshold, they will be entitled to the difference to ensure they reach the 55% level.
