Vietnam increases loan limits for ex-convicts to 200 million VND

The Vietnamese government has issued Decision No. 44/2026/QD-TTg, amending previous regulations regarding credit policies for individuals who have completed prison sentences. Under the new decision, ex-convicts can access loans of up to 200 million VND to support vocational training, production, business activities, job creation, and overseas employment under contract.

The amendment expands the scope of eligible borrowers and modifies the conditions for receiving loans. Notably, the timeframe from the completion of a prison sentence to the point of applying for a loan has been extended from five years to a maximum of ten years. The policy also includes credit support for businesses that employ ex-convicts to facilitate production and job creation.
