Vietnam initiates plan for wage and social insurance reform

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, head of the Central Steering Committee on wage and social insurance reform, has signed Decision 124/QD-BCDCTLBHXH to initiate a plan for reforming wage and social insurance policies. The goal is to present a comprehensive reform project to the 5th Conference of the 14th Central Committee of the Communist Party.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has been tasked with leading the research and coordinating with relevant ministries and agencies to conduct a total assessment of previous resolutions (Resolution 27-NQ/TW and Resolution 28-NQ/TW). The draft content for the reform project is expected to be completed between August and September 2026.

Participating ministries must evaluate current wage policies—including minimum wages, salary scales, and allowances—as well as social insurance implementation. They are required to identify shortcomings, analyze causes, and propose specific recommendations tailored to their respective sectors.
