Vietnam integrates identity card issuance for children under six into digital process
Starting September 1, 2026, new administrative procedures in Vietnam will integrate the issuance of identity cards for children under six years old into a streamlined electronic process. This change follows Decision No. 1868 issued by the Ministry of Justice.
The new interconnected electronic procedure allows parents or guardians to simultaneously handle birth registration, permanent residence registration, health insurance card issuance, and identity card issuance for young children through a single digital application. This reform aims to reduce paperwork, minimize the need for repetitive data entry, and lower travel costs and time for families by utilizing shared digital databases.
