Vietnam intensifies livestock disease control to secure year-end meat supply
Authorities in Vietnam are intensifying disease control measures to stabilize the meat supply ahead of the year-end holiday season. In Ha Tinh province, African swine fever has emerged in several households within Thien Cam commune, leading to the culling of over 1,600 kg of infected pigs. Local officials are focusing on isolating outbreaks, increasing surveillance, and instructing farmers to strictly follow disinfection protocols and report unusual animal behavior immediately.
In other regions like Dong Nai, a key livestock hub, farms are implementing rigorous biosecurity measures to protect large-scale herds. As the year-end period approaches, farmers are balancing herd expansion with strict environmental controls—including managing feed, water, and movement restrictions—to mitigate the risks posed by changing weather patterns and potential pathogen infiltration. The goal is to ensure a sustainable and safe food supply for the upcoming Lunar New Year.
