Vietnam issues new medical professional allowances

The Vietnamese government has issued Decree 350/2026/NĐ-CP, establishing new professional allowance regulations for medical personnel. The decree, issued on September 9, 2026, specifies that allowances will range from 30% to 80% depending on the specific job role, work environment, and geographic location.

The highest allowance of 80% is designated for professionals performing specialized tasks such as examination, treatment, testing, mental health care, forensic medicine, resuscitation, and emergency care. This maximum rate also applies to medical staff working at commune-level health stations and preventive medicine facilities in border areas, islands, and disadvantaged mountainous regions.

Other tiers include 70% for specialized roles involving the care of people with severe disabilities, infectious diseases (such as leprosy, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS), and newborns. The lowest tier of 30% applies to staff involved in health education, population work, school medical staff at public institutions, and those not directly performing professional medical duties.
