Vietnam introduces new policy framework for overseas Vietnamese community
The Politburo of Vietnam has issued Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW, marking a strategic shift in how the nation engages with its overseas Vietnamese community. According to Tran Ba Phuc, a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the resolution represents a development in mindset, moving from merely mobilizing and caring for the diaspora to actively partnering with them as a strategic resource.
The new policy aims to create mechanisms and policies that allow overseas Vietnamese to participate more substantively and effectively in the country's development, construction, and protection. Rather than viewing the diaspora solely as subjects for mobilization, the resolution recognizes them as key actors in the nation's progress.
