Vietnam investment funds see significant net outflows in September 2026

Investment funds in Vietnam experienced a notable decline in net asset value (NAV) as of September 30, 2026. The total NAV of 138 funds, comprising 114 domestic and 25 foreign funds, reached approximately 246 trillion VND, a decrease of nearly 13 trillion VND (5%) compared to August 2026.

In the third quarter of 2026, funds saw net outflows of 8.6 trillion VND, marking the seventh consecutive quarter of capital withdrawal. For the first nine months of 2026, total net outflows reached nearly 31.7 trillion VND, a 34.2% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

Sector-specific movements showed a divergence in investor interest. The banking sector was the only industry to see net buying exceeding 1,000 billion VND in September, led by VPB, MBB, and ACB. Conversely, the real estate sector faced the heaviest selling pressure, with net outflows of approximately 2,212 billion VND, concentrated in VIC, VHM, and KDH.

Hoa Phat Group (HPG) was a notable individual performer, with 16 funds net selling approximately 8.3 million shares in September. This marked the fourth consecutive month of net selling for the steel manufacturer, driven largely by open-ended funds such as PYN Elite, DCDS, DCDE, and LVF.
