Vietnam issues decree on product traceability and identification
Vietnam has issued Decree No. 372/2026/ND-CP, which establishes regulations for the identification, authentication, and traceability of products and goods. The decree consists of 8 chapters and 38 articles, focusing on the development and management of a National Platform for product identification and a National Database for products and goods.
Traceability requirements are determined by the risk level of the products. For high-risk goods, identification and authentication are mandatory. The specific lists, implementation roadmaps, and methods—whether by production batch or individual unit—will be determined by relevant sector management ministries to ensure feasibility and alignment with industry characteristics. For products categorized as medium or low risk, traceability and authentication are encouraged on a voluntary basis.
