Vietnam issues new regulations on social customs, green projects, and labor contracts

Vietnam has issued several new regulatory guidelines across social, environmental, and labor sectors.

Under a new directive from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, regulations for weddings, funerals, and festivals have been unified to promote civilized lifestyles. Key provisions include a ban on playing funeral music before 6:00 AM or after 10:00 PM, restrictions on using public funds or state vehicles for personal celebrations, and prohibitions against superstitious practices, gambling, and scattering money on streets during funerals. Officials and military personnel are specifically instructed not to attend weddings or festivals during working hours.

In the economic sector, Deputy Prime Minister Hồ Quốc Dũng signed Decision No. 46/2026/QĐ-TTg, providing guidelines to identify green and circular projects. This applies to private enterprises, business households, and individuals, covering sectors such as renewable energy and low-emission transportation to facilitate interest rate support.

Additionally, the Ministry of Home Affairs is implementing guidelines for electronic labor contracts. This digital platform aims to streamline administrative procedures by connecting data with tax, social insurance, and banking authorities, offering legal equivalence to paper contracts while emphasizing data security and privacy.
