Vietnam joins multinational Trident Resolve 2026 exercise in Indonesia

The multinational Exercise Trident Resolve 2026 commenced on September 22 in Cilegon, Banten province, Indonesia. This ADMM+ (ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting-Plus) field exercise involves approximately 2,200 military personnel from 19 different countries.

The exercise integrates three specialized expert groups: humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR), military medicine (MM), and cyber security. By combining these disciplines, the drill aims to test multinational coordination mechanisms during complex emergencies, such as large-scale earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis.

A Vietnamese delegation of 18 personnel, led by Colonel Doan Van Than, is participating in all three components of the exercise. The delegation brings experience from previous international search and rescue operations in Türkiye, Myanmar, and Venezuela, as well as the deployment of field hospitals in South Sudan.
