Vietnam judicial sector launches tobacco control writing competition

The Vietnamese judicial sector has launched a writing competition focused on the prevention and control of tobacco harms for the year 2026. The initiative aims to raise awareness among officials, civil servants, and employees within the court system regarding the dangers of smoking, passive smoking, and new tobacco products such as e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products.

Participants are encouraged to write about the legal frameworks governing tobacco control, including the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms and recent National Assembly resolutions. Specifically, the competition highlights the upcoming 2025 ban on the production, business, import, and use of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products.

Entries may also focus on practical judicial experiences, such as the adjudication of cases involving smuggled tobacco or illegal electronic tobacco products, and propose solutions for better legal dissemination and smoke-free workplace initiatives.
