Ford Everest dominates Vietnam SUV market amid shifting sales

Vietnam's automotive market saw mixed performance in the first half of 2026. In the D‑size SUV segment, total sales fell 6.5% month‑on‑month to 1,586 units in June, with Ford Everest remaining the clear leader despite a drop to 818 units. Everest's cumulative H1 sales reached 6,101 vehicles, representing about 86.5% of the segment’s 7,050 units, while Mazda CX‑8 held second place with 1,781 cumulative sales.

The MPV gasoline segment became more competitive, with three different models topping monthly sales. Toyota Veloz Cross led in April with 1,503 units, Mitsubishi Xpander reclaimed the lead in May with 1,236 units, and Toyota Innova Cross surged to 1,670 units in June, overtaking Xpander (1,051). Xpander’s H1 total was 7,791 units, still the highest cumulative figure.

In the pickup‑truck market, Toyota Hilux briefly outperformed Ford Ranger in June, delivering 1,000 units and narrowing the gap. Overall H1 pickup sales rose to 12,877 units, a 12% increase year‑on‑year, with June alone reaching 2,091 units despite regulatory challenges.
