Vietnam karaoke regulations: operating hours and health advice

Authorities in Hai Phong have issued warnings regarding karaoke business regulations. Under Decree 87/2026/ND-CP, karaoke establishments are prohibited from operating between 00:00 and 08:00 daily. Individuals found operating during these restricted hours face fines ranging from 10,000,000 to 20,000,000 VND, while organizations face double that amount.

Customers are also encouraged to respect these legal operating hours to avoid inadvertently supporting illegal business practices.

Additionally, health experts advise karaoke enthusiasts to take precautions to protect their vocal cords and hearing. To prevent throat irritation, swelling, or hoarseness, individuals should avoid singing too loudly, hitting excessively high notes, or singing for prolonged periods without rest. To protect hearing, it is recommended to maintain moderate volume levels and avoid sitting too close to speakers to prevent long-term auditory damage.
