Vietnam Launches 2026‑2030 Online Child‑Safety Programme
On 29 May, Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security inaugurated the “Protect and Support Children’s Development in the Online Environment 2026‑2030” programme in Hanoi, with Vice‑Prime Minister Phạm Thị Thanh Trà delivering the opening remarks. The launch, held at Vinschool The Harmony and streamed to 34 locations nationwide, was attended by officials, educators, parents and representatives from UNICEF, the Children’s Rights Association and major tech firms including Meta, TikTok, Google and VNG.
The initiative shifts the national strategy from reactive case handling to proactive prevention, aiming for 100 % of schools to deploy network‑security solutions, 100 % of Internet service providers to block harmful content at the transmission level, and nationwide digital‑skill education for children. The programme also calls for coordinated social‑responsibility actions from families, media, and the tech sector.
The Ministry of Health announced a parallel research project on the “digital mental health” of children and reinforced the 111 hotline for rapid intervention in online abuse cases. Phạm Thị Thanh Trà emphasized that protecting children online is “no longer a matter for individual families or schools alone; it is a responsibility of the whole society.”
